Congratulations to Past-Chief Kevin Lennon on his recent election to the Town of Catskill - Town Council.
Congratulations to President Ed Synan on his recent retirement from the Catskill School District.
PFD LAUNCHES RAM PROGRAM
The Palenville Fire Department is pleased to announce that they have elected John Hanzl, a Junior at Catskill High School, as the first 16 year old Firefighter in the history of the Department. Prior to October 2009, the Department only accepted members who were 18 years of age or older. As part of an ongoing effort towards recruitment and retention of active firefighters, the Department and Fire District jointly developed new parameters and amended their bylaws, thus allowing younger applicants to be considered.
The younger firefighters will be required to maintain satisfactory academic performance in their school work while working with department officers to learn the skills and principles of firefighting. “We are excited to have a new member like John with the ambition to work and the desire to learn” said Chief Mike Ferretti. “We hope he is the first of many students from Palenville to join our ranks in the years to come.”
IN TRAINING:
Asst Chief Philip Kenny has completed his NYS EMT certification. Asst Chief Garrison had completed his CFR certification.
